SOUTH TOLEDO (WTOL) - A 2-alarm fire broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 on Sumner and Eastern in south Toledo. The house that caught fire was vacant. The flames were so big that the two neighboring houses, which were occupied, also caught fire.
All residents of the neighboring homes were able to escape. One woman told News 11 on scene she awoke to flames near her son's room. She grabbed him and was able to escape, even getting the family pets. She was still very shaken up by the 5 a.m. interview.
Arson has not been ruled out as a cause. The house initially on fire was fully engulfed. Firefighters decided to let that one burn to the ground and focus on the neighboring homes. At least one of the neighboring homes has major damage.
