Dan Bumpus left WTOL in February of 2011
I have multiple roles here at News11. I am the co-anchor of News11 at Noon, as well as the "breaking news anchor" for News11 Your Morning from 4:30-7am Monday through Friday. I also lead the Call 11 For Action Team, helping solve problems that you bring to our attention, as well as alerting you of the latest product recalls that could be putting you and your family in danger.
I have worked at television stations across the nation and I'm so proud to be back home doing the news in northwest Ohio. During my career, I have interviewed everyone from former Presidents, to rock and roll legends, to ordinary folks with extraordinary stories to tell.
I am originally from the city of Oregon, and graduated from Clay High School (Go Eagles!!). I grew up watching local news, including WTOL. During my college years at Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons!!), I worked as a technician and associate news producer for WTVG in Toledo.
After graduating with a degree in broadcast journalism, I joined 9 and 10 News, the CBS affiliate in Traverse City, Michigan, as a general assignment reporter. Later, I moved to the deep south to report the news for WALB in Albany, Georgia.
In June of 2000, I returned to the Glass City, joining WUPW as a general assignment reporter. I then stepped outside of news, to enjoy a wonderful stint with Toledo public relations firm FLS Marketing Inc., before coming to WTOL News 11 in 2003.
I live in the Toledo area with my incredible wife, Shawna, our amazing son Benjamin, and our lovable Golden Retriever, Jack.
