PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) – The Perrysburg School District is trimming the budget with layoffs because there is a budget deficit for the upcoming school year of $3 million.
District officials say at least 10 percent of staff could be cut because the school board has decided not to balance the budget through a new tax levy.
Layoffs will be across the board, which means class sizes could increase and courses could be cut. Final numbers are not yet decided but will likely include 50-70 people losing their jobs.
A final decision will be made at a board of education meeting next month.
