FULTON COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - The Northwestern Ohio Foam Packaging plant, located on 123 South Shoop Avenue near downtown Wauseon, caught fire around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Emergency crews closed Shoop Avenue and evacuated several homes nearby for several hours because of heavy, toxic smoke.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office says at least seven fire departments responded to the blaze and doused the fire. Crews were in the process of cleaning up around 6 a.m. Monday.
No one was hurt in the blaze as the building was empty when the fire began.
The State Fire Marshall's office is investigating.
According to the company's website, the plant makes insulation products.
