TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) gave Toledo police $50,000 to hire extra patrols in the construction zone on I-475 and on I-75 at the split.
The campaign, called "50 is Nifty," targets speeders through the 50 mph construction zone.
An ODOT spokesperson says the lower speed limit is not only important for the safety of the workers but for the safety of drivers as well.
The crackdown is set to continue through the life of the project, which is expected to last three years.
