TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Toledo City Council approved a new vicious dog ordinance Tuesday that will define vicious dogs by behavior rather than breed.
The law takes effect in 30 days, and it also creates fines for owners of dogs who get out of line.
Toledo Mayor Mike Bell says he's taking a "wait and see" position on whether it makes the community safer from dangerous dogs.
"Here we're trying to write something that's fair for all breeds," he said. "Time will tell. If we still have a major problem, then we'll have to do whatever necessary to adjust."
