City of Toledo begins leaf collection Nov. 1

Updated:

From a news release from the City of Toledo:

The City of Toledo will begin its 2010 Leaf Collection Program on Monday, November 1, and conclude early December, weather permitting.

The collection will begin in both curbed and uncurbed streets of Zip Code 43613 and uncurbed streets in Zip Code 43623.  Signs will be posted in affected neighborhoods announcing leaf collection in advance of the pick up date.    This collection is for loose leaves only - brush, sticks, and bags of leaves will not be collected.

Leaves should be raked to the edge of the pavement on uncurbed streets and just over the curb on curbed streets.  Residents are asked not to place leaves on boulevards or cul-de-sac islands.

Upon the conclusion of the Leaf Collection Program, any remaining leaves can be mixed with your solid waste and should be placed in refuse collection bins.  Additionally, through December 31, 2010, leaves can also be recycled at Clean Wood Recycling, 6505 West Bancroft Street or 5330 Stickney Avenue.

Motorists are asked to maintain a safe distance when driving behind city crews during leaf collection operations.
