COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A former Ohio State University pediatric doctor who pleaded guilty to accessing child pornography is citing a troubled childhood and his own sexual abuse as a boy as he seeks a lower sentence. Prosecutors are calling for a four-year term for Christopher Pelloski when he's sentenced next month.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour will be a featured speaker at the Ohio GOP's annual dinner in Columbus. The state Republican Party says Barbour will join Ohio Governor John Kasich (KAY'-sik) as speakers for its May 10th event. Kasich is seeking re-election to a second term this November. Barbour campaigned for him in Ohio during his 2010 run.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Northeast Ohio is quickly becoming known for its biomedical industry. The region's biomedical industry grew by nearly 60 percent in the past dozen years. The industry has created thousands of jobs and has become one of the area's few growth industries. The Plain Dealer reports that the industry in the region recently surpassed pre-recession revenue levels to become a $5.6 billion industry - up from $3.5 billion in 2000.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Residents and visitors to Cleveland are being offered an opportunity to view the lead ship in the parade of ships known as the Cleveland-Europe Express. The Plain Dealer reports the Fortunagracht was to sail into Cleveland today and be open for viewing until 5 p.m. through the port's West Ninth Street gate.
