TYLER COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA (Toledo News Now) – WTRF in Wheeling, West Virginia is reporting that Thomas Jack Fritz, of Sylvania, is dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was the suspect in a double murder that happened in Blissfield, MI over the weekend.

After a four-day manhunt, his death came during a standoff in West Virginia Tuesday that began when a U.S. Marshal tried to serve a warrant at the home. It happened in a cabin in the woods near the Ohio border.

Neighbors tell WTRF they heard several shots fired.

"As a police officer, I want to be able to tell them, 'Hey we caught this guy that did these things.' Obviously we didn't catch him. But to tell them that they don't have to worry any longer, it's very satisfying," said Detective Mark Moore with Michigan State Police.

Fritz is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Amy Merrill, and her pregnant sister, Lisa Gritzmaker on Friday. He's also accused of shooting and injuring their mother.

A joint funeral is planned for the sisters this weekend.
