OREGON (WTOL) - The kids at Fassett Middle School in Oregon made the ultimate long distant call.
They interviewed Commander Mike Fink aboard the international space station as he orbited earth 223 miles away.
The Toledo Mobile Radio Association made the connection with Fink, who is also a ham radio operator.
The eighth graders have been studying science, math and space travel. They questioned Fink on topics such as the Hubble telescope, how he goes to the bathroom in space and what it takes to be an astronaut.
"I think being an astronaut is not as easy as it seems. You have to exercise a lot and it's important they don't break a bone," said Student Hailey Dilworth.
Fink has been aboard the space station since October and returns to earth in April.
