FREE HEALTH INSURANCE
FOR LUCAS COUNTY FAMILIES
Healthy Start/Healthy Families provides FREE health coverage for eligible children aged 18 and under, pregnant women, and parents/guardians with minor children in the household. Eligibility is based on the number of people in the household and the household income. Healthy Start covers children in a family of four with an income up to $40,008/year. Healthy Start covers pregnant women in a family of four with an income up to $30,000/year. Healthy Families covers parents and children in a family of four with an income up to $18,000/year.
These programs cover doctor, dental, and vision visits, hospital care, immunizations, prescriptions, substance abuse and mental health services, as well as other services.
Personal interviews are not required. You can submit the application by mail. If you are not a citizen but your children are, you only have to provide social security numbers for the children that need the coverage. Parents don’t need to submit a social security number if they aren’t applying for themselves. For an online description of the application process, click on the link below.
