TIFFIN, OH (WTOL) - A Tiffin man is dead, shot and killed by police.
It happened early Saturday morning on the 100 block of East Perry Street in Tiffin.
That's where officers responded to a call of someone breaking into a home.
When police showed up they say they were confronted by 30 year-old Benjamin Grimes, who had barricaded himself inside the house.
Police say they spent 90 minutes trying to talk Grimes out, but eventually decided to go in and get him.
That's when we're told he pointed a loaded revolver at the officers.
They fired, hitting Grimes several times.
He died at the hospital.
This was the second time officers had been called out to his home.
A few hours earlier Grimes was checked out and cleared by a hospital counselor as not posing a threat to himself or others.
