Mayor Carty Finkbeiner appears to be running out of time. The "Take Back Toledo" group sure got a lot of people to say they have had enough of Carty.

It looks like his influence is not what it once was. His power to intimidate and to impose his will over city council and others seems to have lost much of its force. Fairly or unfairly, when good things happen, a politician receives the credit. When bad things happen, the get the blame.

The economic collapse of northwest Ohio is a very bad thing. The mayor is not the cause, but he is receiving a big share of the blame. Unlike great politicians who somehow shape the things they encounter so that either the outcomes, or at least the spin, are positive; this mayor gets smaller as the deficit gets larger. The clock is ticking.
