MONROE, Mich (WTOL) - The search continues for a missing Monroe County girl. Navaeh Buchanan was last seen Sunday in the parking lot of the Charlotte Arms Apartments in Monroe.

On Wednesday, May 27 the sheriff talked about the abduction with News 11.

It's been three days since five-year-old Navaeh Buchanan vanished. "The child is still missing," Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield.

Crutchfield says more than 100 investigators are working this case, and they have received hundreds of tips. "We're soliciting any and all information, any and all tips regarding the disappearance of the child."

These tips, plus executed search warrants, have brought up possible evidence that's being tested in a state crime lab. There are persons of interest in this case including the boyfriend of Naveah's mom, George Kennedy, who is a registered sex offender.

News 11's Joe Stoll asked the sheriff, "Can you confirm or deny whether there was a knife taken from Mr. Kennedy that did have blood on it?"

"No comment," said Sheriff Crutchfield.

He does say a 24-hour task force has been setup to handle tips. He would not comment on whether he believes Navaeh to be alive or not.

A combined effort continues from the county, state and the feds to find Naveah.
