WTOL Vice President and General Manager Bob ChirdonLast week, for the first time, the four leading candidates to become the next mayor of Toledo gathered in one place. They sat right here in the WTOL newsroom and answered questions from you.
This roundtable discussion lasted about and hour. Without commercials, the candidates responded to around 10 topics. The discussion was lively, thoughtful and civilized.
The candidates did a good job, and I found this more compelling than the typical sound bite answers we have come to expect. This bodes well for the future of northwest Ohio. These men are serious and committed to our region. They bring fresh ideas and tremendous energy. That's a good thing. They're going to need it.
WTOL and the Blade will conduct two more of these roundtable discussions prior to the formal and defining debate on August 29. This is a critical time in our region. I urge you to participate by sending in questions. We will get you the answers.
