TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - When the weather heats up, so do Toledo's hot spots--maybe a little too much! Already, some of the festivities have gotten out of hand.
Former police sergeant and News 11 Crime Expert Richard Murphy talks about four people stabbed in just a few block area around downtown when the partying went a bit too far.
"Why can't you behave when you go out at night to a bar or a nightclub and a fight starts?" Murphy asks. "You know the best advice I can give you is back away, get away and call police immediately.'
That's the quickest way to diffuse the situation, and keep yourself out of trouble.
"Now the consequences of these stabbing is, the stabber is facing a felony charge of felonious assault. He's going to go to prison!"
And not just him...
"The victim can also be charged in a fight like this if he or she is the aggressor. So the best advice I can give is this: behave when you go out at night or go anyplace where there's a crowd!"
Now this doesn't mean: "Don't go out!" There are a lot of great places here in Toledo to have a night out this summer.
Just be aware of what's going on around you and stay safe.
