CLYDE, OH (WTOL) - Riders took to the streets of Clyde Saturday to raise money for kids battling cancer. One of them is Alexa Brown, the girl News 11 has been following.
The sound of motorcycles filled the streets of Clyde. It will forever hold a special meaning for the Brown family.
"It's the sound of love today," says Amanda Brown, Alexa's sister. "Just great, great love."
Love for a child and a family that has gone through so much.
"She is battling something that is just evil and it's not fair. But we keep hope, and things like this keep hope alive," says Amanda.
"I am a fairly mechanical person. I can fix almost anything with the right tools," says Warren Brown, Alexa's dad. "But I can't fix my kid."
Riders came in their gear ready to ride. Behind their leather vests and tattoos are their hearts, bigger than their engines.
"I think the whole nation should do things like this," Dale Beaver, one of the riders. "That's why I'm here. There is a special place in my heart."
Joined by the Clyde Fire Department, 241 motorcycles drove through the town, then passed Alexa's house. Barely able to hold up her hand, Alexa waved to every single rider as they went by.
For Alexa's family it was a beautiful and emotional day.
"This morning as we were riding down route 20 I had a chance to glance in my rearview mirror. I just could help but cry," says Alexa's dad.
"She's touched so many lives and she doesn't even know it," adds Amanda.
Lives that have never crossed paths with Alexa's until Saturday.
"It sure is nice to know that there are people out there that are in your corner. You can't advocate for yourself. It is hard to even pray," Warren admits, "but we know that others are."
And everyone will continue to pray, praying that Saturday's miracle leads to another...
