STONY RIDGE, OH (WTOL) - Some local church folks with big hearts are renovating a home for a Stony Ridge woman. And they're doing it for free with help from the Northwest Ohio Carpenter's Joint Apprenticeship Program.
St. John's Visitation Pastor Jim Budke says the woman needed to find a place to live and this house, a perfect fit, became available.
"It gives the kids a good opportunity to get out and get some real world experience," says apprenticeship instructor Ken Trumbull.
But the students are not just helping for the real world experience; they're doing it to help a woman down on her luck.
The materials and work hours for the $15,000 project have all been donated.
The woman's family is helping complete the project.
The home is scheduled to be finished by the end of the Fall.
