TOLEDO, OHIO (WTOL) - One person is dead, another is in the hospital after the vehicle they were in smashed into a trailer carrying demolition equipment set up because of a house fire.

It happened on Central Ave. near Isabella in West Toledo. Police say the vehicle was eastbound on Central when it smashed into the trailer.

The passenger inside the vehicle, 25-year-old Latasha Dawson, was killed. The driver, 26-year-old Eric Jones, was rushed to Toledo Hospital.

Toledo Police have not yet released what they believe caused the driver to hit the parked trailer. No charges have been filed at this time as police continue their investigation.

The demolition equipment was in the area for a house fire in the 1600 block of Jermain around 12:30 a.m. Crews said someone does live in the house, but that he was at a party when the fire broke out.

Crews don't know yet what caused the fire, but it was so intense the city needed to tear it down. Fire crews said it appears to be just the latest in a recent string of suspicious fires in the glass city.
