OTTAWA LAKE, MICH. (WTOL) - A BGSU senior has raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, by combining her love of horses and charity work.
Working at Rainmaker Stables in Ottawa Lake, Mich., Ashley Frederick's internship has allowed her to do marketing and advertising work -- designing their website and employees' clothing.
Fredrick isn't stuck in the office all day, she rides, too. That's how she helped start the Saddle Up for Saint Jude Horse Show.
"I think it's a great way to raise money for a... cause," said Fredrick. She says it's also a good way to introduce folks to horses.
She spent a month and a half readying folks at the stable forces for a horse show.
"We as horsemen... never have an opportunity to get people to... and see a horse, so we just thought St. Jude was a great cause," said Rainmaker Stable owner Jim McCartney.
"I hope to raise at least $1,000. I'd like to double that, but that's at least the base goal," said Fredrick.
The business and riders raised more than $17,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
