STANFIELD, NC (WBTV) - Mary Jane Burdette has been making quilts for 30 years. But recently her stitching has taken on a charitable cause.
Burdette makes huge quilts with thousands of squares of fabric. Each one is earmarked for a homeless shelter in Albemarle.
"You see these people and you think, these people have nothing, I mean nothing," says Burdette.
Burdette has made 11 quilts already and plans to add another to the list in the next few months.
She says she hopes the colors and warmth provided by the handmade blankets, will bring about a smile for folks who might not have much to smile about.
