CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The name may be a little misleading. Mustaches 4 Kids is not a program to help kids grow facial hair, instead it's a huge fundraising effort to help grow their minds.
M4K is a national program where men sign up to grow a 'stache for 1 month. Each guy has a donation page where people can "sponsor" their 'stache. The money raised goes straight into classrooms to buy materials or fund new educational campaigns.
M4K has a local chapter in Charlotte that's raised more than $22,000 in two weeks. Chris Beam is a local mustache cultivator. The usually clean-shaven dad says it's worth it to suffer a little humiliation, as long as it's for a great cause.
