TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Taxes, deficits, taxes, deficits. It's the story in the school system, the city, the state and the federal government -- I bet you are as tired of these topics as I am.
But here's the bad news. The deficits are real, and there are only a few ways to get them down. You can increase revenue, which means taxes. You can also cut spending or sell some assets.
Now if you don't want to pay more taxes, then be prepared to see some of the things to which you have become accustomed, disappear. The schools will be forced to give up extracurricular activities. The city, the state and the federal government are all going to have to slash some of the outrageous entitlement programs that have grown exponentially in the past 50 years.
So when you vote 'no' to new taxes, and that is what most of you who call or email me are saying, then understand you are also saying, 'I can live without this' or 'I can live without that.'
