TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A tornado touched down at Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, shearing, toppling and uprooting hundreds of trees.
The park will remain closed at least through Monday as Metroparks crews continue the extensive cleanup. Trails are potentially hazardous because of large limbs hung up in trees that could fall.
The park will re-open as soon as possible, but some trails may remain closed for several days.
At nearly 4,000 acres, Oak Openings Preserve is the largest of the 10 Metroparks of the Toledo Area. No substantial damage from the weekend's storms was reported in any other Metroparks.
