MILLBURY, OH (WTOL) - Beverly Hicks worked at her job as a caterer in Millbury Saturday night. She went to bed after work, and was awakened by a young man yelling, "Grandma Beverly."

Hicks says she got up and walked through the house like nothing happened until she saw her grandson with blood on his face. She asked him what happened, and her grandson said they had a tornado.

It turns out, Hick's home moved 18 feet off its foundation and had to be torn down. Fighting back tears, she said, "I had a beautiful home, and now it's gone. But actually, it was an old farm house, and it didn't fall down."

She says she's thankful for the century-old construction. "The newer homes would have fallen down. Well, they did. They fell down, or they're blown apart. My house was still standing."

Hicks wants to thank all the volunteers who came out and helped. "We couldn't have done it without them." Her granddaughter adds, "It's just so overwhelming. You just don't know how much love there is in the world until something like this happens."

A house will be rebuilt on the property, and Hicks says they will reuse bricks from the original farm house.
