TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The construction signs just went up on I-475 east in Toledo that read, "Ramps will be closed for 1000 days."
Groundbreaking starts today.
A major construction project to widen I-475 is beginning August 2.
The major impacts will be ramps from the central Toledo area. Entrance ramps at Monroe, Central and Upton will close on I-475 eastbound. Douglas Road will remain open for a period of time. When that closes, drivers will need to take Secor Road or Detroit Avenue.
Additionally, I-475 will be down to two lanes from the split to Monroe Street.
Spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Transportation (O-DOT), Theresa Pollock, says the impact won't be felt as much on I-75 at the split.
A public meeting about the highway project will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sanger Branch Library on west Central Avenue. Representatives from O-DOT will be there to explain the project and answer questions.
