The construction site at I-475 and Central Avenue is considered a permanent construction site, which means the speed limit is 50 mph. That's right, 50.
The workers will be here for about two years. If everyone slows down and obeys the 50 mph speed limit, this will be a safer work site. Two workers have already been killed this summer on highway construction sites in Ohio. It's a dangerous job. It is even more dangerous when drivers recklessly and carelessly blast through construction zones.
How much time do you really lose when you go 50 instead of 70? Ten or 20 seconds? Is that really worth someone's life? The next time you approach I-475 or any other highway work site, slow down.
