TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Police say a woman was robbed at 9:30 a.m. outside a bank near Manhattan and Stickney in north Toledo.
Retired Toledo Police Sergeant Richard Murphy gives advice to protect yourself during trips to the bank. He says you never know when someone may be watching you.
"When you're leaving the bank, don't be foolish and have your money in your hands," he said. "When you do this, you're a target, and some real dirt bag out there will go after you quickly. You're making it easy for him."
Instead Murphy advises to slow down and take some extra time to put everything away before leaving the bank.
If you have to leave the bank with a substantial amount of cash, Murphy advises to make that extra effort to bring someone to the bank with you. That extra person will be a deterrent to any potential robbers who may be watching.
