The last televised Ohio gubernatorial debate takes place Thursday at 8 p.m. on the campus of the University of Toledo.

It will air across the state on various TV stations including WTOL-11 in Toledo and on WTOL.com and 11.2's News 11 Now.

Make no mistake about it, this race is a very big deal with huge national implications.

In fact, Ohio is up for grabs and the future direction of the state is uncertain.

Governor Strickland and challenger John Kasich need to stop with the campaign rhetoric and talk plainly about specifics.

I hope they accept the challenge to be direct and detailed instead of offering vague generalities and lame anecdotes.

We could all benefit from some in-your-face-comments. We'll see if either candidate has the courage and the strength of conviction to really tell us why he should be our next governor.
