TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - One of the highlights of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year is the line of 70th anniversary models by Jeep.
Each model, including Toledo-made Liberty and Wrangler, has a 70th anniversary badge that's inspired by Jeep's military origins. There's also a bronze star color that's exclusive to the historic models.
The wheels are a noticeable change. The Liberty, for example, has black painted wheels.
Head of Product Marketing, Chris Ellis, points to Toledo Jeep pride as a contributing factor to their success. "We have a workforce in Toledo and a community in Toledo that is very supportive of Jeep, very proud of Jeep, and who just does a great job. We're very thankful for that," he said.
The anniversary models will be available in showrooms in late spring.
Jeep leaders say anniversary celebrations are being planned for this year.
