DETROIT, MI (WTOL) - The North American International Auto Show in Detroit features a growing number of hybrids this year.
Many automakers are under fire to create more environmentally friendly vehicles.
In fact, almost every automaker had "green" vehicles on display. Some even introduced hybrid SUVs and luxury vehicles.
The Chevy Volt, which is GM's plug-in hybrid, holds the title of North American Car of the Year. The Volt is now the most fuel-efficient car sold in the U.S., unseating the Toyota Prius.
Despite a growing trophy case, sales of the $42,000 car have not taken off as much as expected even though the car has only been on sale in the U.S. since mid-December.
However, Pam Burns says she believes folks are just a bit apprehensive about the new technology.
"People are always afraid of change, and they might not want to try it out," said Burns. "They'll let some other people see if it works and all of that. I think definitely in the future, it'll catch on."
