MILLBURY, OH (WTOL) - Lake High School is getting a big gift from the Cleveland Browns and the National Football league -- a $20,000 check.
The NFL matched the Browns' donation of $10,000. The check will be presented Thursday night at the varsity boys' basketball game.
Less than a year ago, a EF-4 tornado destroyed Lake High School and its football field. The turf football field was resurfaced, but Lake's football players still do not have a locker room. The donation will go toward locker rooms near the facility.
Lee Herman, the school's principal, said he is extremely grateful for the money and calls the future locker rooms a definite upgrade.
"We went through all of last year without a locker room to use, so we had to try to figure out how we would conduct fall practices with no locker room space whatsoever," said Herman. "Kids can come, actually have a place to change, take showers, store equipment. This will be a tremendous help."
