TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Android phones have become the latest target of high tech thieves.
People are downloading apps thinking they are harmless, but are turning out to be viruses.
The trojan hides in a third-party app that android owners download outside the approved channels such as the android marketplace.
If the android gets infected, it can end up sending private information out to the scammers and can take control of your internet.
The trojan virus is especially being reported over in Asia.
All android users should be wary of installing apps outside the android marketplace or other officially approved stores.
People can protect themselves by allowing the android phone settings to disable installation of apps from "unknown sources."
