(WTOL) - Severe weather week has special meaning to students in Lake Township after an E-F Four Tornado destroyed their high school last summer.
The students have been taking their classes in another building they refer to as "the hangar." Lake High School Guidance Counselor, Bill Pixler, said for the most part everyone has moved on.
"We've settled in our routine and students come and go between classes like they would have in our other building," said Pixler.
With severe weather back again, students and faculty prepare in case another tornado hits. Lake High School Superintendent, Jim Witt, said Wednesday that the students will do their first mandatory tornado drill since the real thing happened in June.
" I'm sure that in many people's minds and stomachs, there will be a little knot tomorrow when those sirens go off and there will probably be some memories that come rushing back," said Witt.
Memories school leaders say they are ready to help the students tackle because it is that bond that has gotten them this far already.
