TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -
The Warren County Sheriff's Office has identified a sheriff's deputy who was struck and killed in a crash early Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Larry Sims says Sgt. Brian Dulle, 36, was laying stop sticks near the intersection of Utica Road and U.S. 42 when he was struck and killed instantly.
Sims says the high-speed chase began around 1:50 a.m. on eastbound SR 73 in Franklin. The suspect turned onto U.S. 42, where he traveled southbound in the northbound lanes and ran a deputy's cruiser off the road. He almost hit another cruiser before striking Dulle.
Sims says this is the first time ever a Warren County Sheriff's Deputy has died in the line of duty.
Dulle has been an officer with the Warren County Sheriff's Office since January of 1999. He was promoted to sergeant in November of 2005.
Dulle leaves behind a wife, Abbie, and three children - Maddie, age 10; Emma, age 7 and Jackson, age 4. Maddie Dulle was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Pleural Pulmonary Blastoma in 2003. An organization in her honor called Maddie's Hope was formed to raise money in the fight against cancer.
He was a graduate of Edgewood High School and attended Miami University. He was also a member of the U.S. Army.
The suspect, later identified as Marcus Anthony Isreal, 22, was caught around 6:15 a.m. at the corner of Drake and SR 122, about a mile and a half away from where the crash occurred.
The Sheriff's Office has still not released information on why Isreal was being chased.
Isreal is being charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to comply. He is being held in the Butler County Jail.
