Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney announced Monday that the list of candidates for the position of Chief of the Cincinnati Police Department has been narrowed to four finalists.
At Dohoney's invitation, five representatives of various segments of the community worked with city staff in reviewing applications. This screening committee narrowed the pool from 43 to six candidates who received in-person interviews with the committee. Dohoney and the committee narrowed the list to the four candidates who will be invited for interviews with the City Manager over the next two weeks.
The final hiring decision is solely the City Manager's. The City Manager may choose one of these applicants or look at other candidates not currently in the finalist list.
Dohoney is looking for a replacement for former Chief Tom Streicher, who retired.
