ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Rick Porcello pitched a three-hitter for his AL-leading third shutout to lead the Detroit Tigers over the Tampa Bay Rays 6-0 last night. Porcello moved into a tie for the league lead in wins. He retired 20 straight batters after Ben Zobrist's double in the first.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Justin Verlander could rejoin the Detroit Tigers' rotation on Saturday. Verlander has missed one start because of a sore right shoulder. The right-hander threw for the second straight day Wednesday and said it's "strong to quite strong" that he will start one game of a doubleheader Saturday against Minnesota.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Scott Hebert has cruised to a six-shot victory at the Michigan PGA Professional Championship. The pro from Grand Traverse Resort & Spa shot an 11-under-par 61 in the first round and a seven-under 65 in Round 2. He finished yesterday with an even-par 72 to go 18-under for the tournament at 198. Oakland University hosted the event at its course in Rochester Hills.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Michigan and Washington have decided to renew their rivalry. The Wolverines will play the Huskies in Seattle in 2020 and will host them at the Big House in Ann Arbor the following year. Michigan leads the all-time series 7-5 and won the last matchup in 2002 on Philip Brabbs' 44-yard field goal as time expired.
