Hundreds of jobs coming to Toledo

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – More than 600 jobs are coming to Toledo once the Hollywood Casino opens in the spring.

The casino has posted the job openings on its website, in an effort to get everyone they need on board before the grand opening.

They have extended offers to about 100 people, and they posted another 600 positions on their site this week.

Tamara Swiden has been job hunting since she was laid off from her job two months ago.

So far, she has been without luck, and she is currently among the thousands of others hoping to get a chance to work for the casino.

The casino says that applicants need to act fast.

"I would encourage people go now and apply now because we'll look at it on a first come, first serve basis. Once we've hired enough people, we will take the position down." explained Chrystal Herndon, Vice President of Human Resources.

The Hollywood Casino Toledo is offering jobs in four main areas: food and beverage, slot operations and table games, facilities and environmental services, and security and surveillance positions.

The positions are mostly hourly, and they include tips, but base pay ranges from the dealer base pay of $5 per hour, to cooks making $13 dollars per hour.

"Many of the positions, we're not looking for any particular skills. We're really just looking more for the personalities to make sure these people want to work in the entertainment industry." said Herndon.

Jobs that require specific skills or experience will be clearly stated in the description on the website.

Applicants must apply online, and should set aside about an hour to complete the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Casino officials ask that they are given two to three weeks to respond, but they promise they will contact applicants to tell them whether or not they will get an interview.
