TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – Video game console markdowns are among the biggest sales this January.
While Xbox and Wii consoles did not sell as well as hoped over the holidays, many stores are now throwing in extras, including free store gift cards to unload them. Unfortunately, if you try to modify the bundle, you'll lose it completely.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 was one of the hottest items this past black Friday and cyber Monday. Many stores threw in the Kinect motion sensor for free, and Walmart added a $50 store gift card.
The Kinect bundle is usually $300 or more.
One woman tried to upgrade to a 250 gigabyte Xbox with more memory, but when she went to her local Walmart to try to pick it up, she discovered the upgrade had cost her the whole bundle.
The bundles are considered "special buys" that involve the exactly specified package. If you try to change it, you may not receive the original deal.
Consumers have learned they need to be careful with online specials, and think twice before making any changes. Walmart did nothing wrong in this situation.
