NORTH TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – Two new strip clubs could be coming to north Toledo, despite some residents' concerns. The city of Toledo has received two applications for adult-oriented businesses in the area.
At least one of the locations has the same investors as Platinum Showgirls, a strip club that burned down back in August. The club was destroyed and is no longer usable.
Platinum Kisses may move in front of the NorthTowne Mall in a building on the corner of Detroit and Alexis that used to be a restaurant.
Another strip club could be going in at the former Jed's BBQ and Headliners.
Toledo City Councilwoman Lindsay Webb said the two businesses are complying with zoning laws and since adult-oriented businesses are protected by the Constitution, there is nothing council can do to regulate them.
Webb wants residents to know that she hears their concerns.
"The people that I represent are very neighborhood and community-oriented people, and the idea that part of our neighborhood is the Red Light District of the City of Toledo, leaves a very bad taste in the mouths of many of the citizens that I represent," said Webb.
Webb explained she is always concerned about the NorthTowne Mall property. She worries a strip club in the parking lot could drive away shoppers.
