ROMULUS, MI (WTOL) - A retired bomb-sniffing dog got loose in Detroit Metropolitan Airport, several media outlets report. He has not yet been captured.

WWJ-AM reports the German Shepherd was leashed but ran away after arriving Monday night on a cargo flight from Tucson, Ariz., and being let out of a crate to go to the bathroom.

He has been spotted but bolts when he is approached.

The dog, named Arco, worked at the U.S. Capital before being retired. CBS Detroit reports he was retired after killing a cat.

He was being shipped to Arizona to work with a new handler that places retired service dogs with military veterans.

Anyone with information about the missing dog is asked to call police at (734) 941-8400.
