TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - A new bill, aimed at helping Ohio's unemployed, will make its way to a committee on Thursday after being proposed in the State House this week.
The Ohio Fair Employment Act contains a portion of the bill that would ban the wording of "seeking those who are already employed" in job postings.
State Representative Ted Celeste proposed the legislation and says he co-wrote the bill after a study last summer revealed that more than 150 ads were only seeking those already employed.
Those who are currently unemployed and seeking employment through The Source say they have seen ads that they feel discriminate against them.
The Source says they advise people who are unemployed to volunteer and use the experience on their resume.
They also say they don't believe the anti-unemployment discrimination bill will help because employers believe that employed individuals have sharper mindsets and would only need a short time to train them.
