COLUMBUS, OH (WTOL) – The Ohio Casino Control Commission met in Columbus on Wednesday, and while an opening date for Hollywood Casino Toledo hasn't been set yet, OCCC Executive Director Matt Schuler tells WTOL 11 he expects a date to be set within the next two weeks.
This comes as the commission continues to investigate investors in the operation by way of background checks, towards being able to issue a gaming license, and the commission continues to hire staffers to get its internal operations fully functional.
OCCC Chairperson Jo Ann Davidson agrees with the timeline of having a date set in the near future.
Meanwhile, the OCCC will be in Toledo on February 22, to start the process of taking individual applications and start the process of licensing casino employees who will work the gaming tables.
Richard St. Jean, Hollywood Casino Toledo General Manager, says construction is 85 percent complete, with $164 million being spent so far on the project.
He anticipates work to be wrapped up and securing a permit of occupancy from the City of Toledo by March 15.
