PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) – Wood County Commissioners have agreed to issue bonds to St. Clare Commons, a continuing-care facility that will be built in Perrysburg.
Organizers of the project, the first Catholic continuing-care facility in the Toledo area, say that it will bring both faith and economic benefits to the area, beginning in a few weeks.
St. Clare Commons will be located next to an existing parish, blessed John XXIII. The members of that parish say it's a good thing for people of all ages, and they plan to have a relationship with outreach programs such as St. Clare Commons.
Wood County Commissioners say that the importance of the building goes beyond the Catholic community, and will give the area construction jobs at a time when they are in need. The project will create about 115 jobs upon completion.
Franciscan Living Communities, the group building the facility, says that the first phase of the project will include a 60 bed nursing home, a 36 unit memory center for people with illnesses such as Alzheimer's, and 56 assisted living apartments.
Organizers say they are excited and proud to be a part of the community, and they hope the feeling is mutual.
