Small fire damages New Empire restaurant in Holland, OH

HOLLAND, OH (WTOL) - A small fire was put out Thursday morning at New Empire Chinese restaurant in Holland.

The fire began just before 7 a.m. at the restaurant located in Spring Meadows shopping Center off Airport Highway.

It is believed to have started in the kitchen before the restaurant was open, but sprinklers did turn on.

Fire crews used a ladder to climb to the roof and put out a small grease fire.

Damage is minimal but there is no final word on how much.

The restaurant will be closed for the rest of Thursday, but owners said they expect to open again Friday.
