TPD investigating south Toledo accident involving their own

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The Toledo Police are investigating a south Toledo accident involving three of their own police officers.

The accident happened on Saturday night just before 11 p.m. at the corner of South Avenue and Stebbins Street near the Anthony Wayne Trail.   

Investigators say Officers Paul Marchyok, Neil Piasecki and Robert Orwig where inside a police SUV when a car driven by 22-year-old Jared Harris ran a stop sign and hit them. The SUV then crashed head-on into a tree.

Police say the driver of the car attempted to leave the scene but hit two houses before stopping.

The driver and the officers were all taken to Mercy Saint Vincent's for treatment.

Orwig has been listed in fair condition. No word on the conditions of the others involved.

Officers Piasecki and Orwig were involved in a shooting last April.  Orwig was shot in the leg and Piasecki was uninjured.
