TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – A Super Bowl party took a dangerous turn Sunday night in central Toledo after three people were shot and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to police, about 10 people were inside a home in the 600 block of Woodland around 9 p.m. Sunday. There were two infants sleeping upstairs. Shots were fired into the home from the outside through a side window. Three of the people inside were hit: Kera Mitchell was shot in the chest, Dwight Gibbs was shot in the chest and leg, and Ebony Hollis was shot in the stomach.
The three victims were rushed to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Gibbs and Hollis were treated and released.
People inside the home say they have no idea why someone would shoot into the house.
There have been no arrests in the case, although police are actively pursuing leads and an arrest could be close.
"It's a very serious thing. We take it very seriously. Those types of crimes can seriously injure or kill," said Sgt. Joe Heffernan of the Toledo Police Department.
Police said the suspect was driving a green Pontiac Bonneville. Otherwise, no description has been released.
