Former teacher sentenced to prison as sex offender

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) – A former Washington Local Schools teacher will spend the next few years in prison and have to register as a sex offender.

Matthew Warner was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday, for having inappropriate relationships with three WLS students. Warner exchanged up to 60 text messages with the students, including inappropriate photos.

Warner will have to register as a tier one sex offender for 15 years.

Warner taught at the middle school and coached at the high school. As of Tuesday, Warner's teaching license is still in good standing but he is expected to surrender it.
