PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) – TLC Transportation, a local company that has been around for ten years, is hoping to add Perrysburg to its list of cities they provide transportation to the disabled in.
The Perrysburg City Council will vote on whether or not to hire the company, and help plan a separation from TARTA.
Resident Brian Hughes says that cities can benefit from using private companies to get people where they need to go:
"They can help more people as far as, not just Perrysburg. Sylvania, Oregon, you know I think it will be a big help to Perrysburg if they wanna stop using TARTA and use TLC. That'll be a good thing for Toledo."
On March 6, Perrysburg residents will vote on whether to separate from the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority. If the city votes to separate, they will hire a private company for transportation services.
"I think that we can offer a faster, quicker response time on the on-demand routes. I think we can save those areas much money. That's the main thing in today's age. And I think, you know, we can just do a better job." Says TLC Transportation President Chris Jaquillard.
While nothing has been decided yet, Perrysburg City Council members say examples like TLC will make it easier to vote for a separation from TARTA on March 6.
