PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) - State Representative Randy Gardner addressed the Perrysburg City Council Tuesday about the TARTA referendum on the March 6 ballot.

He offered solutions for what he called the service gap facing the Perrysburg community if residents decide to discontinue the current public bus services.

People who live in Perrysburg will vote on whether to separate from the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA).

Gardner says no matter which fate voters choose for the referendum, the residents deserve services through the end of the year. If the referendum passes, Gardner says the city would lose service around October, despite paying taxes for a year's worth of service.

"Perrysburg residents have paid about $375,000 for October, November and December of this year, and these residents include the disabled, senior citizens, who are relying on transportation service," Gardner said.

He proposed having the city contract with TARTA for those months for just $1.
